Hillhurst’s restaurants make an easy starting point: breakfast, a coffee conversation and a dinner table all fit within the same local circuit. Vermont adds books and neighborhood culture, while Barnsdall Art Park brings exhibitions and artmaking a little farther south. Our completed sale at 2114 Hillhurst sits within this mix of daily rituals and creative institutions.

Los Feliz’s cultural story stretches from Corita’s historical studio and teaching practice to the exhibitions and public projects at Barnsdall. This guide uses those documented ties without suggesting that every featured artist lives or maintains a studio in the neighborhood.

Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery

Artists to know

Follow the local connections.

Corita Kent

Screenprinting + art education

Historic Franklin Avenue studio and Immaculate Heart teaching legacy

Corita’s vivid screenprints joined the language of advertising and popular culture with questions of faith, peace and social justice. Her former studio at 5518 Franklin Avenue received Historic-Cultural Monument status in 2021. This is a historical neighborhood connection: today’s Corita Art Center is in the Downtown Arts District, not at the former Franklin Avenue address.

Susan Silton

Conceptual art, photography + participatory installation

2026 survey and public project at Barnsdall Art Park

Silton works with text, image, sound and participation to examine voice, perception and public memory. LAMAG’s 2026 survey, Diving into the Wreck, brings these threads together at Barnsdall. Her accompanying Civilized Voices project places poetry on hand-painted billboards among the park’s pine trees, connecting contemporary art to Aline Barnsdall’s history of public expression.

Barnsdall sits at the Los Feliz / East Hollywood edge. Corita’s former studio is a historical reference; the current Corita Art Center is in the Arts District.
